FOR  ATTENTION  NEW ZEALAND  EX VIETNAM  VETERANS

AND OTHER NEW ZEALAND VETERANS.

On the 6^th December 2006 a MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING was reached, between The Ex- Vietnam Services Association and The Royal New Zealand Returned and Services Association and Her Majesty The Queen in Right of New Zealand..

 This Memorandum is a way of formalizing the position that they have reached in relation to a package of measures for Veterans, which will make up the Veterans Package.

 The Package includes:-

1. An acknowledgement and apology to all Vietnam Veterans.
2. A comprehensive range of measures for addressing short and medium health and welfare issues for Vietnam Veterans and, where appropriate, their immediate families.
3. A Welcome Home Ceremony for Vietnam Veterans, including aspects of Whakanoa ( a cleansing of evil spirits)
4. Clarification of current and proposed future entitlements for Vietnam Veterans and certain entitlements for ALL New Zealand veterans.
5. A review and a rewrite of the substantive legislation.

 There are many more aspects to this Memorandum of Understanding, which cannot be gone into in this letter. This letter is to try and contact as many NZ ex Vietnam Veterans as possible.

 My name is Barrie Leslie and I am the immediate Past President of the Chatswood RSL Sub-Branch, here in Sydney and I was also responsible for arranging the RNZRSA Welfare Seminars, held in Sydney, November 2006.
